Daliwonga Says Some Events Are Using Mpura & Killer Kau’s Passing For Their Personal Benefit. Fans and celebs were left heartbroken on Monday, 09 August, after the news of Killer Kau and Mpura’s deaths topped the trending charts. The pair were involved in a fatal car accident on their way to a Rustenburg gig, and the accident also claimed the lives of upcoming artists Khanya “The Voice” Hadebe, DJ Thando Tot and TD, who were with the pair in the car.

Daliwonga took to social media speculating that some people are using Killer Kau and Mpura’s passing to create events and funds for their personal benefit. The star was saddened by the speculations, considering that the two late stars were his colleagues.

Non-profit organisation Amapiano Awards said it is working towards starting an initiative to support Amapiano artists after a tragic car crash that took the lives of young stars. In a statement shared with Sowetan’s sister publication TshisaLIVE, the organisation said it was in communication with companies to assist them with raising funds that will ensure that Killer Kau, Mpura and other artists in the future receive funeral cover, disability benefits and travel “insurance” when commuting to their gigs. “In paying tribute to the two heroes (Killer Kau and Mpura) that have contributed immensely within the entertainment industry and as part of our efforts to promote and preserve the rich legacy that they crafted, Amapiano Awards are in conversations with financial services companies to create a facility that will assist in ensuring that our artists receive funeral cover and disability benefits.”

The police have launched an investigation into alleged culpable homicide following the deaths of six people involved in a fatal car accident in Marikana which took the lives of musicians Mpura and Killer Kau. In a statement, the department of transport, roads and community safety spokesperson Boitshoko Moremi said on August 7, six people died in a head-on collision on the N4 in Rustenburg near the Marikana toll gate. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased and we hope they find strength during this difficult period. An investigation is under way to establish the cause of the accident. We are again appealing to people to adhere to the regulations as most accidents happen way past curfew time. Work with our law enforcement officials to ensure you arrive alive,” Moremi said.
