Brenda Fassies Son Remixes His Late Mother’s Classics With Amapiano. With amapiano being the biggest genre in South Africa right now, artists from other genres have also been exploring the sounds of amapiano. Considering that the keen ears of amapiano continue to grow, so has the music releases. Late legendary singer, songwriter and performer Beanda Fassie’s songs are old-time classics that even today, they are still being listened to, however, there might be a new twist to that.
To respect her inheritance, her child Bongani is set to remix a portion of her works of art, giving them an amapiano twist. Bongani is honouring his mother’s reminiscence through reviving a number of her traditional hits with amapiano sounds! Bongani hand-picked some fundamental amapiano artists to assist him with the project. He’ll be running with Focalistic, Lady Du, Mr JazziQ and Mpura to help with the remakes of the track. “Our perspective is to get 5 well-known ampaiano artists and deliver them one music they like. What they do is a remake of that music, proposing Bongani,” he said.
Bongani told City Press that the concept for the idea came from his accomplice Buhle Sangweni. She stated she had a dream approximately Brenda and later pitched the concept to Bonga. She said: “I had a dream in which she was talking to me and she was pulling my hair and she said to me, ‘camagu!’. I didn’t understand what that message meant when she said it and a few weeks later I got sick.”
