Rising South African singer and songwriter Makhanj has expanded the world of her debut album Transkei with the release of the official visualiser for “Amandla Am (Intro),” featuring Sipho Magudulela and Bella Tee.
The new visualiser offers fans another way to experience the opening track of Transkei, a 13-track debut album released on 5 August 2026 through Makhanj Entertainment. The project is deeply connected to Makhanj’s Eastern Cape roots and explores themes of heritage, identity, womanhood, healing and African pride.
Sharing the visualiser with her supporters, Makhanj reflected on the personal meaning behind the project and the experience of creating the visual alongside her mother.
“The official visualiser for Amandla Am (Intro) is out on YouTube. Please go check it out. Ahead of Heritage Day, I’m so thankful I got to shoot this with my mum, a woman who makes sure we never forget where we come from. I hope you enjoy it!” she shared.
The involvement of her mother gives the visualiser an even more personal dimension, particularly as “Amandla Am (Intro)” serves as the opening track on Transkei. The song introduces listeners to the album’s central themes while establishing the emotional and cultural foundation for the project.
The collaboration brings Makhanj together with Sipho Magudulela and Bella Tee, creating an introduction that connects music, storytelling and heritage. With the visualiser, Makhanj continues to bring the world of Transkei to life beyond the audio experience.
Originally from Mthatha in the Eastern Cape, Makhanj has spent years establishing herself as a songwriter within the Amapiano space before stepping forward with her own music. Alongside her artistic career, she has also built a professional career as an attorney, making her journey into the spotlight a unique one.
The visualiser was created by a team including producer Nuskool and Makhanj, with Mosanki ECSP serving as director of photography and editor. Bluemag Pictures also contributed to the production, while Impilo Productions Media and Location Loaded came on board as co-directors. Nuskool and Nunation Entertainment handled set coordination.
With “Amandla Am (Intro)” now receiving its own visual chapter, Makhanj continues to deepen the story behind Transkei. The new release gives audiences a closer look at the personal roots, cultural identity and heritage that continue to shape her artistic journey.
