A Zimbabwean music promoter has sparked widespread debate after publicly criticizing several South African Amapiano stars for allegedly missing scheduled performances in Zimbabwe despite receiving payment. During a recent podcast appearance, the promoter shared his frustrations about working with some artists and explained why he believes Daliwonga could face serious consequences if he returns to Zimbabwe.
According to the promoter, organizing international events requires significant financial investment, with artists often requesting full payment before traveling. He explained that promoters not only cover performance fees but also flights, accommodation, logistics, and marketing expenses long before the event takes place.
“Most artists demand full payments upfront, mostly South Africans. We pay them upfront, the flights and everything,” he said.
One of the artists mentioned during the discussion was Young Stunna. The promoter claimed that the artist pulled out of a scheduled performance shortly before the event and cited a family-related reason.
“Young Stunna’s excuse was that his wife was giving birth or she was in labour of some sort. We found out a few days before,” the promoter stated.
He also directed criticism at Uncool MC, alleging that the artist failed to honor a booked appearance despite extensive preparations and financial commitments made by the event organizers.
According to the promoter, the matter has escalated into a legal dispute.
“Uncool MC had the nerve to say, ‘I’m tired.’ I have text messages on my phone showing he said he was tired because he had a show the previous night. This is not South Africa; this is an international show. We paid first-class tickets and had a major event waiting for him,” he claimed.
The promoter further alleged that legal proceedings involving Uncool MC are currently underway, though no public court ruling has been made regarding the matter.
Perhaps the most controversial comments involved Daliwonga. The promoter accused the artist of being unprofessional and claimed he missed a scheduled Zimbabwean performance after allegedly reporting travel-related issues.
“Daliwonga lied about being at the airport and saying they were late. It’s very unprofessional on the side of the artist,” he alleged.
However, the promoter also suggested that after conducting his own research, he discovered that Daliwonga’s absence may have been linked to financial disagreements between the artist and members of his management or production team.
“I discovered that they owed him money from previous events. I think it was a contractual issue between him and his team, and it affected us,” he explained.
When asked what would happen if Daliwonga returned to Zimbabwe, the promoter made a dramatic claim, stating “I’m going to arrest him, I’ve got a docket in his name. The moment he lands by the airport we going to nabb him.”

At the time of publication, neither Daliwonga, Young Stunna, nor Uncool MC had publicly responded to the promoter’s allegations.
