Scotts Maphuma Says He Will Never Perform in Uganda Again After Contract Dispute

South African amapiano star Scotts Maphuma has sparked major conversation online after revealing that he may never perform in Uganda again following a troubling incident involving his manager and an alleged contract dispute with event promoters.

The musician, who has been making waves in the music industry with his energetic performances and growing fanbase, recently took to Instagram Stories to express his frustration after his manager was reportedly arrested in Uganda. According to Scotts Maphuma, the issue began after promoters allegedly failed to honour their contractual agreement by not paying him the full performance fee before the event.

The artist did not hold back as he addressed the situation publicly, accusing organisers of attempting to take advantage of ongoing tensions surrounding xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

“No artist shall perform without the full amount being paid,” Scotts Maphuma wrote. “Ya’ll wanted to take advantage of what’s happening in South Africa via xenophobic attacks and not pay me after performance.”

He further explained that the agreement clearly stated that full payment was meant to be made seven days before the event, but according to him, the organisers breached the contract. Scotts expressed disappointment over how the matter unfolded and claimed the promoters were now trying to shift blame onto him publicly.

“Now you wanna look innocent to your people because you know you bridged the contract saying you guys must pay the full amount 7 days prior to the event,” he added.

Despite his anger toward the organisers, the artist made it clear that he has no issue with Uganda or its people. Instead, he directed his frustration solely toward the event promoters involved in the alleged dispute.

“I have nothing against the country itself but the organisers of the country. You can blame me it’s fine because it’s always the artist’s fault for the dishonesty of the organisers. To my fellow Ugandan fans blame your promoters not me.”

The incident quickly gained attention on social media, with fans sharing mixed reactions. Some supporters defended Scotts Maphuma, saying artists deserve to be protected from unfair treatment and contract breaches. Others hoped the situation could eventually be resolved peacefully, especially considering the strong support amapiano music continues to receive across Africa.

The controversy has also reignited conversations around artist management, event contracts, and the treatment of musicians during international bookings. Many artists have previously spoken out about the importance of promoters honouring agreements to avoid conflicts and financial losses.

As the situation continues to trend online, fans are waiting to see whether the matter will be resolved behind the scenes or if Scotts Maphuma will truly stay away from performing in Uganda in the future.
