During a recent interview on Gagasi FM, Aymos shared the surprising story of how a conversation that lasted less than two minutes led to some of the biggest moments in his music journey. The singer explained that while he initially expected a longer discussion, the meeting ended quickly — something that left him slightly disappointed at the time.
“The funny thing is that DJ Maphorisa, he was like ‘Aymos, I’m about to change your life,’” he recalled. “He set up a meeting like a week ago, and the meeting only lasted like two minutes… even less than two minutes. I was so disappointed because I thought we were going to have a drink and chat.”
However, the short meeting turned out to be a turning point. According to Aymos, DJ Maphorisa quickly invited him to come through to his studio and promised that things were about to change.
“But he was just like, ‘No, no, spana mfanaka… you must come to my house, we can make more music. Your life is not gonna be the same again.’ And that’s exactly what happened,” Aymos explained.
That invitation opened the door to a series of successful collaborations between the two artists. Aymos went on to record several major hits with DJ Maphorisa, songs that would significantly boost his career and introduce his powerful vocals to a wider audience.
