In a surprising twist that has left many amapiano fans talking, popular South African vocalist Sir Trill has come out in defence of DJ Maphorisa, urging social media users to stop attacking the influential producer. The unexpected show of unity has stunned many, especially given the long-standing rumours that the two artists were at odds over money and music rights.

The revelation was first highlighted by controversial online news and gossip page MDNews, which shared a post detailing how Sir Trill stepped in to defend DJ Maphorisa — also known as Madumoney — from trolls who have repeatedly accused him of not paying artists. The move caught many netizens off guard, as Sir Trill had previously been at the centre of discussions surrounding unpaid royalties and industry exploitation.

Back in 2024, the John Wick hitmaker made headlines after claiming he had never received a cent from his music. At the time, fans strongly suspected that his comments were directed at DJ Maphorisa, given their close working relationship and Maphorisa’s dominance in the amapiano space. The allegations fuelled months of speculation, online debates, and criticism aimed at the producer.

However, Sir Trill appears to have put those rumours to rest. Taking to Instagram, the singer posted a short but powerful message asking people to stop dragging DJ Maphorisa. “Please leave Phori alone, we are good. Akushe ingoma kuphela,” he wrote, suggesting that any tension between them should remain within the music and not turn personal.

For years, fans believed that Sir Trill’s career slowdown was linked to a powerful industry figure blocking his progress. While the singer never mentioned names, many assumed DJ Maphorisa was the person he was referring to. This latest statement has now flipped that narrative, indicating that whatever issues existed between the two have been resolved behind closed doors.

Social media reactions have been mixed. Some fans welcomed the reconciliation, praising Sir Trill for choosing peace and maturity. Others remained sceptical, questioning what might have changed and whether the issues were truly resolved or simply handled privately.

What is clear, however, is that Sir Trill wants the public attacks to stop. By defending DJ Maphorisa, he has sent a strong message that not every industry dispute needs to play out online. As amapiano continues to grow globally, moments like these highlight the importance of unity and communication behind the scenes.

For now, it seems the chapter of public tension between Sir Trill and DJ Maphorisa has officially been closed — at least in the eyes of the artists themselves.
