South African global sensation Tyla has once again cemented her status as one of Africa’s brightest musical exports, winning her second Grammy Award at the 2026 Grammy Awards. The 24-year-old superstar took home the trophy for Best African Music Performance for her chart-dominating single Push 2 Start.

The award was presented during the Grammys Premiere Ceremony at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Although Tyla was unable to accept the honor in person—after being delayed by a flood of red carpet interviews—her victory remained one of the standout moments of the evening. The win follows her historic first Grammy in 2024, when she claimed the same category for her breakout global hit Water.

Push 2 Start has proven to be a cultural and commercial force. The song has amassed over 440 million streams on Spotify alone, alongside tens of millions of views on YouTube, reinforcing Tyla’s position as a dominant presence in the global music scene. Its infectious sound and wide appeal have made it one of the most successful African releases of the year.

Tyla emerged victorious from a highly competitive field of nominees that included Love by Burna Boy, With You by Davido featuring Omah Lay, Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin, and Gimme Dat by Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid. The strong lineup highlighted the growing depth and diversity within African music, as well as the increasing global recognition of the genre.

On the red carpet, Tyla turned heads in a striking ensemble styled by Ronnie Hart. She wore a Dsquared2 Fall/Winter 2013 creation featuring a feathered skirt flowing into a dramatic train, paired with a plunging neckline adorned with gold embellishments—an appearance that matched the star power of her Grammy win.

The Best African Music Performance category, introduced in recent years to acknowledge the global influence of African sounds, has quickly become one of the Grammys’ most competitive honors. Tyla’s consecutive wins shows not only her personal success but also the continued rise of African music on the world stage.

With two Grammys already to her name, Tyla’s star shows no signs of slowing down.
