Lady Du’s Spicy Clapback at Nota Sets Social Media Ablaze as Celebs Rally Behind Her Wine Business

Lady Du has once again proven why she remains one of the most outspoken and resilient figures in the Amapiano scene. The singer recently fired back at music executive Nota Baloyi after he made dismissive remarks about her newly announced wine venture, A Sip Of Piano, igniting a heated debate that quickly took over social media timelines.

The drama unfolded after Nota appeared on Piano Pulse, where he questioned the authenticity of Lady Du’s wine business and criticised her music career. In the clip shared online, Nota suggested that the Umsebenzi Wethu hitmaker is more focused on making money than developing her craft. “She should be focusing on growing her craft in music. She didn’t respect music enough to develop herself as a craftsman. We want people who are doing it for the passion, not for the money. We want authentic artists. But this wine brand is not authentic,” he said.

Lady Du wasted no time responding — and she did it in true Lady Du fashion. Taking to Instagram, the Amapiano star laughed off Nota’s comments and delivered a humorous yet pointed clapback. Mocking his remarks, she joked, “We don’t want people that sing for money, we want people that sing with passion, ncela nimkhuze u101 dalmation. Please buy my wine bathi ayikho authentic. Please buy it, tuu.” Her sarcastic response instantly resonated with fans, who praised her confidence and unbothered attitude.

The exchange sparked an outpouring of support for Lady Du, with fans and celebrities flooding the comments section to defend her hustle and entrepreneurial spirit. Many slammed Nota for what they described as unnecessary and disrespectful remarks, while others applauded Lady Du for diversifying her income and building a legacy beyond music.

DJ Zinhle was among the celebrities who publicly backed Lady Du, writing, “We are definitely buying the wine. We are building generational wealth here!” Her comment echoed a broader sentiment of celebrating artists who expand their brands and create opportunities outside of the studio.

K Naomi also chimed in, adding, “Oh no, we want to support your wine business. We like a female that takes risks, has drive and sees her potential in different spaces!” The support highlighted a growing conversation around empowering women in entertainment to explore business ventures without being shamed.

Although Lady Du has yet to announce the official release date for A Sip Of Piano, the buzz surrounding the brand has already done its job. If anything, the controversy has amplified interest in the wine — proving that Lady Du’s grind, both in music and business, continues to command attention and respect.
