Dinky Kunene Opens Up About Contract Struggles Preventing Her From Releasing New Music

Amapiano vocalist and former Idols SA contestant Dinky Kunene has finally broken her silence on why fans have not heard new music from her in recent months. Addressing growing speculation and intense pressure from social media, the singer shared a deeply personal explanation rooted in industry challenges, self-preservation, and her journey into motherhood.

Taking to social media, Dinky revealed that her absence from the charts has nothing to do with a lack of creativity or love for music. Instead, she has spent nearly a year attempting to free herself from what she describes as a “really bad contract” that has left her unable to officially release new material.

“People have been really aggressive in my DMs and comments about dropping music and getting back in studio,” she explained. “So here’s what’s up… I’m struggling for almost a year to get out of a really bad contract.”

According to the vocalist, the deal has tied her hands creatively and professionally. “Even if I make music, I can’t drop it,” she said, highlighting a reality many artists face behind the scenes. Using her experience as a warning, Dinky urged upcoming musicians to think carefully before signing contracts, adding, “Don’t run after money, you’ll end up in the wrong situation.”

Despite the frustration, Dinky said she remains patient and rooted in faith, believing that what is meant for her will arrive in due time.

Beyond contractual battles, the singer also opened up about a major life change that reshaped her priorities: motherhood. Dinky revealed that she welcomed a baby and intentionally stepped back from her career to focus on raising her child.

“I’m not going to let other people raise my child because I’m chasing something that’s not beneficial to me right now,” she said firmly. “My kid comes first.”

Her honesty struck a chord with many fans, particularly women and mothers in the entertainment industry who often struggle to balance career expectations with family responsibilities.

While music is no longer her immediate priority, Dinky expressed gratitude to supporters who continue to stream and celebrate her previous work. “I’m happy with what I’ve created thus far, and having people who still bump my music is highly appreciated,” she shared, reminding fans that she had already signalled last year that she was taking a step back.

Looking ahead, Dinky says her focus is on peace, healing, and alignment. “I hope this explains everything nicely,” she concluded. “In 2026, I plan to choose my peace.”

As fans wait for her eventual return, Dinky Kunene’s story offers a powerful reminder that sometimes stepping back is not failure, but an act of strength and self-respect.
