Amapiano artist and Amaroto group member Sabelo Zuma has once again found himself at the centre of controversy, following allegations that he owes organisers of the PMG Homecoming Festival R10,000 after failing to honour a scheduled performance.
The news surfaced on Tuesday, 28 October 2025, when notorious celebrity blogger Musa Khawula took to social media to claim that Zuma had been paid for a performance he never delivered. According to Khawula’s post, Zuma was booked to perform at the festival on 27 September 2025, but allegedly failed to show up despite receiving full payment beforehand.
Khawula alleged that Zuma initially told the organisers he could not attend due to a funeral, but they later discovered that his excuse might not have been genuine. The organisers have reportedly struggled to recover the payment from the star, with claims that all attempts to contact him and secure a refund have been unsuccessful.
“Sabelo Zuma of Amaroto is refusing to refund PMG Homecoming Festival,” read Khawula’s post. “This comes after Sabelo Zuma failed to show up for his performance scheduled for the 27th September 2025. He stated he was attending a funeral therefore couldn’t perform, but organisers later learned that he had lied. They have exhausted all options to acquire their refund from Sabelo Zuma who probably has smoked all their money.”
The alleged R10,000 debt has sparked widespread debate online, with fans divided over whether Zuma’s absence was justified. Some have urged the organisers to take legal action, while others have defended the artist, suggesting that the issue could have been a misunderstanding.
This is not the first time the Amapiano star has made headlines for controversy. Earlier this year, in June 2025, Zuma threatened to take legal action against podcaster Mac G after the latter insinuated that the musician was involved in drug use. Despite the backlash, Zuma has continued to maintain a loyal fanbase and remains a key figure in the Amapiano movement.
As of now, Zuma has not publicly responded to the latest allegations, and the PMG Homecoming Festival organisers have yet to release an official statement regarding potential legal steps. Fans and industry observers are watching closely to see how the dispute unfolds — and whether the artist will clear his name or settle the alleged debt.
