Amapiano sensation Njelic has spoken out after a viral video sparked debate online, with some accusing him of arrogance. The clip, which made rounds on TikTok and X over the weekend, shows the Wamuhle hitmaker appearing to avoid a fan who was seemingly trying to take a picture with him. The moment quickly became a trending topic, drawing mixed reactions from social media users.

In an interview with TshisaLIVE, Njelic — real name Tshwarelo Motlhako — clarified that the situation was misunderstood and taken out of context. “It was nothing hectic. I was just having fun with him,” he explained. “Some people feel I acted arrogantly, which I’m not.”

The artist expressed disappointment that the clip painted him in a negative light, emphasizing that he values and appreciates his fans deeply. “Truth of the matter is I can’t afford to lose a fan over a picture,” he said. “If I refuse to take a picture with them, who’ll support my music? I’m planning on dropping my next project soon and I need my fans more than ever.”

Njelic’s calm and humble response has since shifted the tone of the conversation online, with many fans rallying behind him. Some social media users have also defended him, noting that short video clips often fail to capture the full story behind such interactions.

Known for his soulful contributions to the Amapiano movement, Njelic has been one of the genre’s most respected voices, thanks to chart-topping collaborations like Bangithi and Wamuhle. His distinct style and smooth vocals have cemented his place among the top tier of Amapiano artists, and he continues to be praised for his consistency and authenticity.

As anticipation builds for his upcoming project, Njelic said he hopes fans can move past the misunderstanding and focus on what truly matters — the music. “At the end of the day, I do this for my supporters. They’re the reason I’m here,” he added.

With his name back in the spotlight, this incident serves as a reminder of how quickly things can spiral in the age of social media — and how important it is for artists to maintain transparency with their fans. For Njelic, one thing remains clear: his humility and love for his supporters are unwavering.
