Tyler ICU has been making waves in the music scene, and now he’s ready to take his fans on a deeper journey with the release of his upcoming album. Following the release of the first single “Lucent,” the South African producer and DJ sat down with Apple Music to discuss the inspiration behind the album and the deeply personal connection he has to the project.

In the interview, Tyler revealed that the title of his new album is a tribute to his late grandmother. “That’s my grandma’s name actually,” Tyler explained. “She’s the one holding my hand on the artwork. I grew up with my gran, so my upbringing was mostly with her. My parents came later in life, at the age when I was starting to go to school. I think I was 7 when I met my parents. From birth, I knew just my gran.”

This powerful connection to his grandmother has shaped much of Tyler’s life, and the album serves as a tribute to the love, wisdom, and values she imparted to him. The album artwork shows Tyler as a child holding a small radio while his grandmother holds his hand — a symbol of their deep bond. For Tyler, this image represents more than just family; it reflects the way his grandmother guided him and encouraged his passion for music. “That picture holds a lot of memories for me,” Tyler shared. “From how she raised me and the respect that she taught me, to how she let me do the things that I love.”

The artist went on to discuss how his grandmother’s influence helped shape his musical journey. “There’s a lot of stories on the album, and it’s just about being thankful for where I come from,” he said. For Tyler ICU, the album isn’t just a collection of songs — it’s a way to reflect on his humble beginnings and the experiences that have led him to where he is today.

The project promises to be a deeply emotional and reflective one, with Tyler’s personal journey taking center stage. Fans of Tyler ICU can expect an album that not only showcases his signature sound but also offers a glimpse into the heart and soul of the artist behind the music.
