Samthing disclosed that the producer’s involvement was much less than people believed and that the famous DJ had misled the public about his role in the album’s production. “I used DJ Maphorisa’s name to push the music, but it turns out he exploited me,” the singer revealed, adding that Maphorisa never produced anything on the project.
DJ Maphorisa responded quickly with a video, expressing his frustration and asking Samthing to send an invoice so he could pay him off. “You can’t own all the masters to your songs,” Phori stated in the video. “Ladies and Gentlemen, here it is – @djmaphorisa confirms that I paid to own my work/masters,” Samthing tweeted. “This was the agreement we had, versus what he said in his initial video where he stated that he gave me my masters. There’s nothing wrong in me wanting to own my work.”
