Tyler ICU, a prominent figure in the Amapiano music scene, recently shared an inspiring story in an interview about quitting his job to pursue his music career. The turning point came when DJ Maphorisa, one of the most influential figures in the genre, reached out to him with an opportunity that would change his life.

In the interview, Tyler ICU recounted the pivotal moment when he had to make a life-changing decision. “I had just arrived at work, and he calls and says, ‘Dude, can you come over right now? There’s a song I’m trying to do, and I want you to be on it,’” Tyler ICU explained. At the time, he was working as a security guard, a job he had recently started. Faced with a critical choice between his steady job and his passion for music, Tyler knew he had to follow his heart.

He described the moment of decision, saying, “After the call, I’m there thinking to myself that this is the moment where I have to choose: do I continue being a security guard, or do I go do this one thing that I love so much?” The answer was clear to him. He immediately called his office to request a replacement and informed them that he was leaving. Tyler ICU didn’t look back as he left his post to meet with DJ Maphorisa.

Upon returning home earlier than expected, his mother was surprised and asked why he was back. Tyler told her he had been fired. For the next two days, he stayed home, uncertain about the future. Then, DJ Maphorisa contacted him again, asking why he wasn’t at the studio. “He said, ‘Dude, where are you?’ I told him I was at home, and he’s like, ‘You’re supposed to be moving in. Come stay here with us so it’s easier for us to work,’” Tyler ICU recalled.

This bold move proved to be the best decision Tyler ICU ever made. By quitting his job, he fully immersed himself in his music career, and his collaboration with DJ Maphorisa marked the beginning of a successful journey in the industry. Tyler ICU of took a risk and followed his passion, even when it meant leaving behind the security of a stable job.

Today, Tyler ICU is thriving in the music world, doing what he loves and inspiring others with his dedication and talent.
