Yumbs, born Ayanda Oratile Yumba in Kagiso township in 2002, is a multi-talented producer and DJ who has quickly risen to prominence in the music industry. 1. Early Beginnings

Born Ayanda Oratile Yumba in Kagiso township in 2002, Yumbs exhibited a deep love for music from a young age. By the age of ten, he was already playing drums at his local church.

Yumbs’ musical talent was nurtured at the National School of Art, where he learned to play bass and electric guitar. He also taught himself how to play the piano, showcasing his self-driven passion for music.

In his senior year in 2020, Yumbs was the main composer and musical director for the production “Hip-Hop Helmet,” which premiered at the Nelson Mandela Theatre, highlighting his early involvement in professional music production.

Yumbs made his commercial debut in 2020 by co-producing Musa Keys’ hit “Vula Mlomo.” This track marked his entry into the commercial music scene and set the stage for his future successes.

Yumbs took on the role of executive producer for Pabi Cooper’s debut EP “Cooperville,” demonstrating his leadership and vision in music production.

In October 2022, Yumbs released his debut EP, “The First Offering,” featuring artists like Kelvin Momo, Aymos, Babalwa M, DBN Gogo, Baby S.O.N, and Boohle. The EP was well-received and solidified Yumbs’ position in the South African music industry.

9. International Recognition

Yumbs’ talent has gained international recognition, leading to collaborations with global icons such as Will.I.Am and Pharrell Williams at a music camp in Dubai. In late 2023, he remixed Ciara’s smash hit “How We Roll” featuring Chris Brown, setting the tone for his continued success in 2024.

10. Warner Music Africa Camp

Yumbs started 2024 by participating in Warner Music Africa’s annual songwriting and recording camp in Aburi, Ghana. There, he worked with artists like JoeBoy, Bien, Moliy, Nkosazana Daughter, Fave, Qing Madi, and Blaqbonez, and producers such as Telz, P.Prime, Dera, and TSB, showcasing his collaborative spirit and expanding his influence in the music industry.
