DJ Maphorisa, a prominent figure in the Amapiano music scene, has once again stirred up conversation with his bold opinions. Recently, during a live session on his Instagram page, the acclaimed DJ and producer declared that all Amapiano artists are his “kids.” The session, initially intended for previewing his new music and receiving fan feedback, quickly shifted focus as Maphorisa addressed his role in the Amapiano genre.

In the live video, DJ Maphorisa stated, “You are my kids, you are my kids. All you guys who are doing Piano, you are my kids unfortunately. And I’m far, I’m up there, the deals that I sign you won’t understand.” DJ Maphorisa solidifies his belief that he has significantly influenced and shaped the Amapiano music landscape, positioning himself as a pioneer and mentor to the newer generation of artists.

Maphorisa’s confidence in his role and contributions to Amapiano is not unfounded. Over the years, he has been instrumental in popularizing the genre, not only in South Africa but globally. His collaborations with various artists have produced numerous hits, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in the Amapiano movement. By referring to other Amapiano artists as his “kids,” Maphorisa is asserting his dominance and the impact he has had on their careers.

He mentioned signing deals that others might not understand, suggesting that his business acumen and strategic partnerships set him apart from his peers. This sense of superiority is rooted in his achievements and the strides he has made in advancing Amapiano music.

While DJ Maphorisa’s statements may come across as controversial, they also reflect his passion and dedication to the genre. His contributions have undeniably paved the way for many artists, and his influence is felt across the industry. However, his bold claims have also sparked discussions about where he puts Kabza De Small as his music partner. While others are agreeing with his statement saying Amapiano would not be where it is if it weren’t for him.

Despite the mixed reactions, DJ Maphorisa sets his record straight of his significant role in the Amapiano genre. His confidence and outspoken nature continue to make him a central figure in the music scene, and his influence is likely to persist as the genre evolves. Whether viewed as a mentor or a provocateur, DJ Maphorisa’s impact on Amapiano remains indisputable.
