Josiah De Disciple cleared up any confusion regarding the origins of Amapiano, a genre that has taken the music world by storm. The renowned artist boldly stated that Amapiano originates from Katlehong in the East Rand, crediting the pioneering work of MFR Souls for bringing the sound to life.

“Let me be honest with you,” Josiah began, “these two guys are the only ones I knew who did mix tapes and a bunch of songs in that particular style. They were already out there, and DJs were playing their tracks before we even got involved. It was MFR Souls, and those guys are from the East Rand.”

Josiah emphasized the pivotal role MFR Souls played in spreading the Amapiano sound across different regions. “They are the ones who actually transported the sound to Alex and Soweto. They were sending their songs to DJs like DJ Stokie. We heard these songs from those guys. They are the originators; they came with the sound.”

In the interview, Josiah De Disciple also revealed the efforts that went into naming the genre. “I spent so much time with them that when the genre was growing, we even asked each other what we were going to call it,” he shared. This collaborative effort highlights the deep roots and communal origins of Amapiano, tracing its path from local mixes to a globally recognized genre.

Josiah’s statements come at a crucial time when the origins of Amapiano are often debated. His insights provide a definitive account from someone deeply embedded in the Amapiano scene, offering clarity and recognition to the true pioneers of the sound.

MFR Souls, consisting of members Tumelo “Maero” Nedondwe and Tumelo “Force” Mabe, have long been credited with shaping the early sound of Amapiano. Their influence and creative output set the stage for what would become a dominant force in South African music and beyond.

Josiah De Disciple’s acknowledgment not only solidifies MFR Souls’ legacy but also serves as a reminder of the genre’s rich history and humble beginnings. His words reflect a deep respect for the roots of Amapiano and the contributions of those who helped it flourish.

As Amapiano continues to grow and evolve, it’s essential to honor its origins and the artists who paved the way. Josiah De Disciple’s candid revelations help ensure that the story of Amapiano’s inception remains accurate and celebrated.
