L’vovo Reportedly Working With Maphorisa To Revive Career. L Vovo Derrango’s real name Thokozani Ndlovu was born in Newcastle KZN. He started schooling at Sphumelele Primary and matriculated in Khanyanjalo High School went to further studies at Durban University of Technology and enrolled as a fulltime student studying for a National Diploma in Language Practice. His passion for the entertainment Industry saw him starting himself as an MC in different events and through that process he managed to meet different personalities like artists, actors etc. He was then given an opportunity by Zakhele Madida who asked him to go to the studio and record a song. From that moment he never looked back and recorded his first album which was self titled.
In 2022, L’vovo, real name Thokozani Ndlovu, encountered a string of bad luck turns in his life. After his mother died, he was badly injured in a head-on collision. In December of the same year, he suffered a stroke.These tragic episodes saw the larger-than-life musician disappear from the music scene.Now the one time music mega-star is set to leave his home in Durban and relocate to Joburg to work with the amapiano maestro.
A source told Sunday World: “Late last year he has been contemplating on amapiano but chose to stay on in kwaito. But the amapiano genre has surpassed kwaito on the airwaves, with downloads and events. So now he was left with no choice but to act towards what the target market wants as far as dance music is concerned.”
L Vovo has released 6 hot albums that has earned him awards like The Best Kwaito Artist at the Metro Fm Awards 2007 and The Song of the Year 2007. He has been nominated to the SAMA Awards 3 Times and that has made him a household name. 2010 Inamandla was also nominated on the best Kwaito on the SAMA Awards and Metro fm respectively, this song earned him massive airplay such he had to perform it at the Metro Fm Awards ceremony in Mbombela Stadium 2011.
