ICYMI: Bathabile Dlamini’s Daughter Midnight Uzo Launches Music Career. Politician Bathabile Dlamini’s daughter, Sikhumbuzo ‘Midnight Uzo’ Mazibuko, is the new kid on the block set to make waves in the music scene. Midnight Uzo, who, recently graduated with an honours degree in music from Stellenbosch University, is classically trained on the trombone and in opera and was in the university choir.
“I always wanted to do music where you find something new every time you listen, I wanted to create something that is enjoyable for everybody. A lot of my music is about my life experiences, and I think that’s how people can relate to me,” she told TshisaLIVE.
From a tender age of nine years, Midnight Uzo knew she wanted to pursue a career in music, so while some might expect her to follow in her mother’s footsteps, she is glad to have her family’s support.
“It’s kind of hard to try and push through to make a name for yourself but my mother has been very supportive in my career choice and I’m so grateful to her for it. What she does and what she did is difficult and I knew that was not the space for me.
