DJ Buckz On Rebranding And Forthcoming Amapiano Album. Obakeng Rahamali who is popularly known as DJ Buckz has been keeping a low profile lately. He has collaborated with artists such as DJ Maphorisa, Wizkid, Kwesta and Okmalumkoolkat.
He is known for being an all-rounder and featuring top African musicians.“I’ve been doing production and studio work. I didn’t want to be in the limelight for the wrong reasons. I was taking a break from being super active on the screens,” said Buckz when speaking to Daily Sun.
“I’m now trying to get people to see what I’m really about, which is a producer, instrumentalist, a vocalist and a performer,” he said.
He said he is working on an amapiano album that he will release soon.He said that he saw a need to rebrand because people were calling him by old names like Uhuru.“I saw that people don’t know who I am individually, they know me through the collaborations I have done,” he said.
He said that his rebranding has made him focus on what people saw in him.“A lot of fans and supporters don’t only want to see you on stage. They also want to see your life. They want to be a part of people they call their icons and mentors. I’ve learnt that I need to be more in touch with them. That’s the break that I’ve taken to study how people want,” he said.
