Pcee Opens Up About His Music Journey And Being A Signee At Black Is Brown. The music industry has changed dramatically over the last decade, following the popularity of amapiano. Record sales have plummeted and the way people listen to music has shifted. Artists rely heavily on streaming services and social media to promote their music. Some have found success in this new landscape, while some are still figuring it out.

After catching one with “Zotata,” Black Is Brown signee Pcee is back with another viral single “Kilimanjaro.” Much like most of his songs, he brought a host of producers and other producers with him in S’gija Disciples, Zan’Ten, Justin99, Mema_Percent, and his label boss Mr JazziQ. His hit single has created a dance challenge that has seen masses partaking in it. American rapper Jaden Smith shared a video of Pcee dancing Kilimanjaro with his mates on his Instagram stories

“I’m from Soweto, Dobsonville. Where crazy people come from. My stage name is Pcee and I’m part of Black is Brown recording label.” When asked how he started in the music industry, the star said: “I started as a producer, so I felt like I’ ve been doing producing for way too long then I decided to actually sing because i’ve been a good singer from way back. I always produce my own music, even though sometimes i outsource, but i always produce my own music. Well, it started singing in the bathroom, and i know not a lot of people make it, but i believed that i could make it. Where I come from, it’s bad and its not easy to find your way to success. Some people have it easy, but us from the hood, we text, send DMs, make phone calls to bigger artists without succeeding. It’s not easy to get the attention of big artists, but you have to understand that you guys are not at the same level and that they won’t get back to you immediately.”

“I am a crazy performer, so I was always making sure that whe I perform i bring my best. But there was one gig that actually started the whole thing, in 2021, when i was performing at Junk Park, and when I was about to go, JazziQ’s dad approached me and told me how he liked my performance and energy. He said that i deserve to be up there because of my craft. So he said i should come on Monday and he will take me to jazziQ and show him my videos performing. But at the time, i was already used to hearing fake promises because it was not the first time hearing such, but I still believed him.”“The day arrived and when I was supposed to meet JazziQ, i ended up not going. But it wasn’t my fault, they said they were busy and asked to reschedule. He then called me on Friday to pull through and then we met and the rest is history.”
