Cassper Opens Up About Increasing Security Measures Following DJ Sumbody’s Death. Refiloe Maele Phoolo (born 16 December 1990), professionally known as Cassper Nyovest, is a South African rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur, record producer and amateur boxer. Born and raised in Mahikeng, North West, he is regarded as one of the most successful artists in South Africa.

Cassper has reportedly revealed that he has increased his security following DJ Sumbody’s death. DJ Sumbody was gunned down in a spray of bullets in Woodmead, Johannesburg while on his way to a gig on 20 November. Speaking to Zimoja, Cassper revealed that he was disturbed after he received the images of DJ Sumbody.“Someone was so insensitive and sent me pictures of Sumbody’s body in the car after he was gunned down. I only saw parts of the picture and closed it once I realised what it was. I couldn’t bear to see him in that light,” said Cassper.

Cassper Nyovest has admitted that he was oblivious to his surroundings, and DJ Sumbody’s tragic death made him realize that he is not safe. “It’s not safe, man. I have been ignorant for a very long time and DJ Sumbody’s death woke me and made me realise that we are not safe. His death really f**ked me up,” he said

The Siyathandana hitmaker alao made note of his status as a prominent figure. He resides in a mansion, drives a luxury vehicle, and possesses pricey jewellery as a factor in his decision to obtain protection. “I am always walking around with expensive jewellery. I can’t afford to put my life at risk and tempt people.“I also need to remember who I am; I am Cassper Nyovest. I am not just some normal guy who can just walk around freely. I would love to live like that, walk around the streets and not be recognised, but I am not that guy.

“Someone made me realise that this is not the way to go, and Sumbody’s death made me aware that I need to be safe and remember who I am,” Cassper explained. Cassper remarked that when he attends gigs here at home or outside the country, he travels with his bodyguards. “It comes as part of the booking. Even before I blew up when I travel to other countries they come with mad bodyguards and safety. They even stand outside your hotel room, it’s the norm and I will be doing the same here at home. People are hungry,” he said.
