Pic! Lady Du Remembers Old Studio Sessions With Mpura And Killer Kau. Lady Du is currently one of the hottest voices in amapiano. Born into a family of musicians, her father DJ Choc and uncle DJ Zan D are reputable deejays and producers. Lady Du, real name Dudu Ngwenya, first learned how to play at the tender age of nine. Since then and during her early adult life, she had been trying to get a successful break into the music industry. Though she made songs with renowned producers such as DJ Clock, DJ Mshega and DJ Maphorisa (back when he still did gqom) in 2013, 2014 and 2018 respectively, her breakthrough only came under a year ago through the track “Superstar”, alongside revered amapiano deejay and producer Mr JazziQ.

Lady Du threw back to the time she shook things up with some of the hottest young musos in the country. Taking to her Instagram timeline she shared an old picture of a group of musicians she used to record with, including late amapiano musician Mpura. “A time in my life I’ll never forget! People I’ll never forget, my brothers Busta 929, Reece Madlisa, De Real Zuma and Mpura will always have a safe space in my heart for what they did for me. Ngiwakhumbula amasessions wethu.”

At the beginning of last year Mr JazziQ reflected on his friendship with Mpura and Killer Kau. “These past few years I’ve lost so many people close to me and it’s left a very deep place in my heart. I could possibly write a book about you (Killer Kau) as a free spirited soul. Your warm heart and coal-burnt voice. The experience I’ve had with you will forever be cherished. I love you, ntwana yam. With you (Mpura) I didn’t lose a friend or an acquaintance but someone who became a brother. I’m still saying it hurts. I miss you,” he wrote.

Mpura, Killer Kau and four other artists died in 2021 while driving on the N4 in Marikana on their way to perform in Rustenburg.
