Thatohatsi has added another remarkable achievement to her rapidly growing career, making history as the first female artist to surpass 100 million streams on Spotify South Africa in a single calendar year.

The fast-rising Amapiano vocalist has officially amassed more than 100 million streams in 2026 alone, marking a major milestone not only for her career but also for female artists in South African music. The achievement reflects the incredible year Thatohatsi has enjoyed, with her music continuing to dominate streaming platforms, charts and conversations across the country.

Known for her emotive and church-influenced vocals, Thatohatsi has become one of the most exciting voices in the current Amapiano movement. Her ability to bring emotion, soul and powerful vocal delivery to every collaboration has helped her build a strong and loyal audience.

Thatohatsi first rose to wider prominence through collaborations with some of the biggest names in South African music. She became a heavily featured vocalist on Kabza De Small’s Bab’Motha album and also gained significant attention through popular songs such as “Xolele.” Her journey has seen her work alongside major producers and artists including Kabza De Small, Kelvin Momo, DJ Maphorisa, and ShaunMusiq & Ftears.

However, 2026 has proven that Thatohatsi is more than just an in-demand featured vocalist. She has continued to establish herself as a force in her own right, releasing music that has connected strongly with listeners.

Her collaboration with Sjava, “Ama Hem Hem,” has been one of her standout moments of the year, making waves on streaming platforms and climbing the charts. The song has helped showcase another side of Thatohatsi’s artistry while further strengthening her position as one of Amapiano’s leading female voices.

She has also continued building momentum through new collaborations, including her recent release “Expector” with CowBoii featuring ShaunMusiq. With every new song, Thatohatsi continues to expand her catalogue and reach even more listeners.

Reaching 100 million Spotify streams in a single calendar year is a massive accomplishment, especially for an artist whose mainstream rise has happened in such a short period. The historic milestone demonstrates the growing demand for her music and the powerful connection she has created with audiences.

From being recognised for her incredible features to becoming a chart-topping artist with major records of her own, Thatohatsi’s rise continues to be one of the biggest stories in South African music this year.

With 2026 still offering more opportunities for new music and performances, the question is no longer whether Thatohatsi is having a breakthrough year. She has already made history-and she may only be getting started.
