The singer took to Instagram to reflect on one of the most difficult periods of her life, opening up about depression, legal battles, personal loss, and how she turned adversity into an opportunity to create lasting wealth.
In a heartfelt post, Lady Du explained that everything changed in 2022 when she found herself in a dispute with her former manager. Faced with uncertainty and struggling with depression, she made the difficult decision to temporarily step away from music and focus on regaining control of her career.
“I took all my savings and invested in properties in the hood to secure my future because I knew I was going to war. I let him think he had won while I quietly started building.”
Rather than relying solely on music, Lady Du invested her savings into abandoned properties, renovating them into fully functioning beauty salons. She explained that the businesses became an alternative source of income at a time when many of her bookings were no longer reaching her.
“I stopped releasing music and built my salon so I could have another source of income because my bookings were being given to other people.”
