The countdown to one of South Africa’s biggest celebrations of female excellence in entertainment has officially begun. The Basadi in Music Awards has announced an exciting lineup of performers for its highly anticipated 2026 ceremony, promising an unforgettable celebration as the prestigious event marks its fifth anniversary.
Taking place over 7 and 8 August 2026 at the iconic Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg, this year’s awards will celebrate five years of recognising the incredible achievements of women in music and entertainment under the inspiring theme, “Rewind the Rise.”
The two-night event will begin with the Vanguard Circle Awards on Friday, 7 August, before culminating in the highly anticipated Main Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 8 August. It is during the Main Awards that audiences will be treated to spectacular live performances from some of South Africa’s most celebrated female artists.
Among the announced performers are Nia Pearl, MaWhoo, and Thatohatsi, three artists who have each enjoyed remarkable success over the past year and continue to shape the sound of contemporary South African music.
Leading the lineup is Nia Pearl, whose soulful vocals and captivating performances have earned her recognition as one of the country’s finest musical talents. Introducing the singer, the Basadi in Music Awards described her as:

Joining her will be MaWhoo, whose remarkable rise continues to position her among South Africa’s most influential vocalists. Known for effortlessly blending Amapiano, Afro-house and Afro-pop, MaWhoo has become one of the genre’s defining voices through a string of chart-topping collaborations and solo releases.
Also set to take the stage is Thatohatsi, one of Amapiano’s fastest-rising stars. Following an incredible 2026 that has seen her dominate streaming platforms with hit records such as Ama Hem Hem, Rapela, and Izospana, her appearance is expected to be one of the evening’s standout moments.
The performances are scheduled to begin at 20:00 on Saturday, 8 August, adding even more excitement to an event already expected to celebrate some of the country’s most accomplished women in entertainment.
