South African artist Toss has raised concern online after revealing that he allegedly lost close to R20,000 through a scam linked to the Uber Eats platform. The musician took to Instagram to share his experience and warn others after discovering that several people, including fellow celebrities, had reportedly gone through similar situations.

Toss explained that he decided to publicly speak about the matter in hopes of creating awareness and encouraging users to remain cautious when using delivery apps and digital payment platforms.

“I came here to create awareness. I just got scammed close to 20 000 a few days ago through Uber Eats,” he said in a video shared on social media. “The reason why I’m making this video is because when I went to report it, I got told that a lot of people have went through the same thing, even my friends have went through a similar thing, so I feel like it’s not right for us to keep quiet especially since we have a platform where we can create awareness about such things.”

The artist appeared visibly frustrated and disappointed as he described the situation, emphasizing the importance of speaking openly about online scams and fraudulent activity affecting everyday users.

Following his post, social media users flooded the comments section with reactions, with many sharing their own experiences involving suspicious activity and unauthorized transactions connected to delivery or ride-hailing services.

Several well-known South African celebrities also joined the conversation, including Cassper Nyovest, who claimed he had also experienced issues involving Uber services in the past.

“@uber_za @ubereats is the worst!!! I got scammed too and they promised to replace my lost item!!! They just went quiet!! They are never gonna do anything. They are just gonna call you and act like they working on it until the hype dies,” Cassper Nyovest commented.

Media personality Somizi also responded sympathetically, writing: “Eish askies. It’s happening everyday.”

The incident has sparked broader discussions online about online security, digital fraud, and the responsibilities of large app-based companies when handling complaints from users. Many social media users called for stronger customer protection measures and faster support responses when scams are reported.

While the exact details surrounding the alleged scam remain unclear, Toss’s decision to speak publicly has already drawn significant attention to the issue. Fans praised the artist for using his platform to alert others and encourage awareness around possible online fraud.

As conversations continue online, many users are urging people to remain vigilant when using delivery apps, double-check payment notifications, and avoid sharing sensitive information online.

For now, Toss hopes that by sharing his experience, more people can avoid falling victim to similar situations in the future.
