Babalwa M has officially made history. The queen of private school Amapiano has redefined what it means to dominate a release week, as her newly released album Acquiesce becomes the first album by a South African female artist in 2025 to have eight songs charting simultaneously on the South African Spotify Weekly Chart in its debut week.

This remarkable achievement not only highlights the strength of Babalwa M’s fanbase but also confirms her position as one of the most influential voices in the Amapiano movement. Acquiesce arrived with high anticipation, and the numbers prove that it exceeded all expectations.

Leading the pack, ‘Amaphutha’ made an impressive debut at #39, earning 310.9K weekly streams on the S.A Spotify Weekly Chart. The track’s soulful energy and signature private school production resonated immediately with listeners, securing its position as one of the standout songs from the album.

Following closely, ‘Muzi Ka Baba’ entered the chart at #70 with 212.4K weekly streams, while ‘Ntwana Yam’ secured #77 with 194.1K streams. These tracks showcase Babalwa M’s versatility, blending emotional depth with elegant Amapiano elements that have become synonymous with her sound.

Further solidifying her dominance, Acquiesce claimed additional chart positions with:
• ‘Smakade’ debuting at #119 with 155K weekly streams
• ‘Mamelani’ debuting at #120 with 155K weekly streams
• ‘Abangani Bamanga’ landing at #123 with 150.4K weekly streams
• ‘Sbhanxa’ entering at #160 with 130.4K weekly streams
• ‘Umoya Wami’ debuting at #177 with 122K weekly streams

This all-round chart takeover is a testament to the consistency and musical excellence Babalwa M brings to every project. Acquiesce is a sophisticated, soul-steeped body of work that stays true to her identity while pushing the boundaries of private school piano. Listeners praised the album for its warm textures, graceful arrangements, and Babalwa’s ability to deliver music that feels both intimate and refined.

Babalwa M continues to stand tall as the queen of private school Amapiano, and Acquiesce marks yet another defining milestone in her flourishing career. With this record-breaking achievement, she is not only shaping 2025’s musical landscape but also elevating the standard for female artists in the genre.
