South African pop sensation Tyla is once again making headlines—but this time, it’s not for her chart-topping hits. The Grammy-winning star has been accused by American rapper Yung Miami of stealing the concept for her upcoming single titled CHANEL, set to release on Friday, 24 October 2025.
Yung Miami, one half of the rap duo City Girls and ex-girlfriend of music mogul Diddy, took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice her frustration. She alleged that Tyla’s soon-to-be-released track CHANEL closely mirrors her own unreleased song titled Take Me to Chanel. In a series of now-viral tweets, Yung Miami hinted that Tyla or someone on her team may have had access to the unreleased track and lifted the idea.
“Not y’all stealing concepts from my unreleased music,” Yung Miami tweeted, without mentioning Tyla directly at first. She later posted, “It’s always us they wanna copy, but never credit.” While no direct audio comparison has been made public, the accusation quickly ignited a firestorm on social media.
The posts were amplified by entertainment account Pop Base, who shared screenshots of the tweets along with the caption: “Yung Miami accuses Tyla of stealing her song with the release of ‘CHANEL’ in a series of tweets.” The story has since spread rapidly across X and Instagram, prompting heated debate among fans of both artists.
Tyla has not publicly responded to the accusations, and neither her label nor management have issued a statement at the time of writing. However, her supporters argue that “Chanel” is a common theme in hip-hop and pop music, and the similarities—if any—may be purely coincidental. Others speculate that this may be a case of industry overlap rather than outright theft.
Since the viral success of her hit Water, Tyla has faced growing scrutiny from some American music fans, with accusations ranging from cultural appropriation to now, alleged plagiarism. Despite the noise, her international profile continues to rise.
With CHANEL dropping soon, fans are eager to hear the song for themselves and judge whether Yung Miami’s claims hold any weight—or if this is simply another case of coincidental creativity in the ever-competitive music industry.
