South African Amapiano sensation Mawhoo has finally broken her silence on the much-talked-about fallout with fellow rising star Naledi Aphiwe, revealing what truly led to their ongoing tension. The Ngilimele hitmaker shared the details during an interview with Selbeyonce on Gagasi FM, offering clarity to fans who have long speculated about the rift between the two KwaZulu-Natal vocalists.
A clip from the interview was shared online by @PianoConnectSA, where Mawhoo candidly explained how things went from friendship to friction. According to her, she and Naledi initially had a great relationship and even planned to collaborate on music together. “When our relationship started, everything was fine. We even did a song together, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out,” she said.
However, the singer revealed that things took a dramatic turn after an altercation involving her sister, Amahle. Mawhoo explained that her sister was hosting an event where both she and Naledi were booked to perform. The tension reportedly began when Naledi tried to bring in several people without tickets.
“I remember my sister was hosting an event, and she was also booked. The drama began when she wanted to get almost 12 people in who didn’t buy tickets. A lot was going on,” Mawhoo recalled. “And then the following day, when my sister demanded her refund, Naledi started swearing and insulting uAmahle. Yoh, I can’t even repeat the things she said because she also spoke ill about my sister’s dead child. It got bad.”
The Amazulu star went on to explain that the insults toward her sister deeply affected her, and that’s when she decided to distance herself from Naledi entirely. “After that, she started trashing me too. That’s when I told myself that I’m not going to entertain her anymore. I just distanced myself,” Mawhoo added.
The revelation has sparked a heated debate among fans, with many expressing disappointment that two talented women from KZN found themselves in conflict rather than collaboration. Despite the controversy, Mawhoo remains focused on her music and her journey as one of Amapiano’s leading female voices.
While fans hope the two stars will one day reconcile, for now, it seems the rift between Mawhoo and Naledi Aphiwe runs deep — a reminder that not all industry friendships survive fame and misunderstandings.
