South African music sensation Bandros is making headlines after publicly calling out fellow artist Da Muziqal Chef for allegedly failing to honor a booked performance — despite being paid in full. The revelation has stirred discussions in the music industry about professionalism, accountability, and loyalty among artists.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Bandros shared his frustration over an incident that occurred on September 27. According to his post, he was approached by a club owner for a gig and was given the opportunity to bring along another act. Bandros decided to invite Da Muziqal Chef — an artist he referred to as “my broer” — and reportedly paid him the agreed performance fee in advance.
In his tweet, Bandros wrote,
“Club X booked me and said I can bring another act for a gig back in 27 September. I agreed and paid @MuziqalChef the full amount and he did not pitch. Now the promoter wants a refund paid to Chef and Chef he’s ignoring my texts.”
The DJ and producer went on to explain that the club initially wanted him to perform alongside Mdu aka TRP, but when Mdu was unavailable, he suggested Da Muziqal Chef as a replacement — believing his friend would come through. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
“They wanted me & Mdu here bro, Mdu was unavailable then I suggested @MuziqalChef because he’s my broer but he didn’t show up,” he added.
Now, Bandros finds himself in a difficult position with the club owner, who is demanding a refund for Da Muziqal Chef’s no-show. The situation has reportedly strained Bandros’ relationship with the promoter, putting his own reputation at risk.
Fans and industry peers have reacted strongly to the incident online. Some have sided with Bandros, praising him for being transparent and holding others accountable. Others have urged the two artists to resolve the matter privately, warning that public disputes can damage both careers.
As of now, Da Muziqal Chef has not responded to the allegations or issued a public statement. The silence has only fueled speculation and concern among fans who admired the artists’ friendship and past collaborations.
Whether the dispute will be resolved amicably remains to be seen, but one thing is clear — Bandros’ decision to speak out has exposed deeper tensions in the industry and reminded fans that even the brightest stars can face challenges behind the scenes.
