The countdown to South Africa’s biggest music event of the year just went into overdrive. Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa have revealed the final surprise for Betway Presents Scorpion Kings Live with Friends, in partnership with Metro FM and Converse, taking place on Friday, 29 August 2025 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria.
After weeks of rolling out a star-studded lineup through their Meet Our Friends series, the Scorpion Kings saved the biggest announcement for last — none other than Afrobeats megastar Davido. The multi-award-winning Nigerian hitmaker will join the powerhouse ensemble, bringing his global anthems and electrifying energy to thousands of fans in Pretoria.
“Davido is family. Having him with us makes this a truly continental moment,” said DJ Maphorisa. Kabza De Small added: “We’ve built this lineup to be history-making — and Davido is the perfect final piece.”
Adding a deeper cultural layer, the Kings also confirmed that legendary South African composer and musician Caiphus Semenya will be honoured at the show. In a special moment on the night, Semenya’s legacy will be celebrated live on stage, with the Scorpion Kings set to deliver a remix of one of his timeless classics — blending the richness of South African heritage with the pulse of modern Amapiano.
The main stage promises a festival of African music like never before, with performances from Ami Faku, Aymos, Bontle Smith, Cassper Nyovest, Daliwonga, Davido, Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, Kwesta, Mafikizolo, Mawhoo, Mlindo The Vocalist, Msaki, Mthunzi, Njelic, Nkosazana Daughter, Nokwazi, Oskido, Phila Dlozi, Ricky Lenyora, Sizwe Alakine, Sjava, Thatohatsi, Tracy, Uhuru, Umthakathi Kush, Uncool MC, Young Stunna, and of course, the Scorpion Kings themselves.
The pre-show stage will set the vibe early, with a fiery lineup including 25K, Ba Bethe Ga Shoazen, Banques, Blxckie, Christos, DBN Gogo, Dihno, Dlala Thukzin, Venom, and Vinny Da Vinci, ensuring fans are entertained from start to finish.
With Davido’s inclusion, a heartfelt tribute to Caiphus Semenya, and a lineup that reads like the who’s who of African music, Betway Presents Scorpion Kings Live with Friends is shaping up to be the biggest Amapiano and African music festival in South African history.
