Joburgers were in for a Women’s Day treat as the Zee Nation Fest lit up Nasrec in Johannesburg on August 9th, bringing together music, fashion, and sisterhood in one unforgettable celebration. The highlight of the event? Amapiano artists who left the stage sizzling with electrifying performances that had fans on their feet all day.
Curated by DJ Zinhle and dedicated to her devoted fanbase known as her “besties,” the festival wasn’t just about music—it was a heartfelt tribute. Supporters travelled from across Gauteng and even beyond to celebrate with Zinhle, who mingled freely, took selfies, and visited various brand activations. Her grand gesture? A dramatic cape printed with the faces of her fans and those same faces projected across giant screens—proof that this event was all about the people who support her.
Amapiano was the genre of the day, and the ladies delivered with power. Khanyisa opened the Amapiano segment, making a triumphant return to the stage after her maternity leave. Full of energy, emotion, and connection, she wowed the crowd and reminded everyone why she’s a force in the scene.
Lady Du followed with a fierce performance that left no crumbs. Known for her stage command, she didn’t disappoint—and even surprised the crowd by bringing out rising star Mathandos, who lit up the stage with her new single “Dayum Girl.” Lady Du’s own set was packed with hit after hit, making her one of the standout performers of the night.
Zee Nxumalo brought the glam and groove, captivating fans with her dancers and energetic performance. She had the crowd singing along to favourites like “Ngisakhuthanda,” solidifying her status as a live show powerhouse.
Closing the Amapiano lineup was the ethereal Nkosazana Daughter, whose angelic voice and commanding presence had the crowd mesmerized. Dressed in a stylish cowboy-inspired outfit, she brought a mix of softness and strength, delivering a performance that was both heartfelt and visually stunning.
While there was no media hospitality (a deliberate choice to keep the focus on the fans), Zee Nation Fest was a celebration of community, music, and the power of women in the Amapiano scene. DJ Zinhle and her besties showed the nation just how magical Women’s Day can be.
