Dj Tshegu On Working On ‘Tiya Production’. Tshegofatso Petlhu, aka DJ Tshegu, has been in the music industry for 17 years.Her DJ-ing career began when her father was set to DJ at a wedding in Lesotho but fell ill.
The DJ also got into production and worked with some South African musicians, and that’s how she produced Tiya Mfana. “I never thought I would get into production while growing up, but I studied production after high school and focused solely on that. Through that, I got an opportunity to be in studio with a few famous people. I would learn more about music through observation. I learnt how music is made and fell in love with it.
“When I was in studio, working on Tiya Mfana, I knew it wouldn’t be just anyone who would feature on it. I thought of the names of people who would be perfect to be on the song and Focalistic was the one. And that was because I told my story through the production and when I approached him, the lyrics he sent complimented the song,” she said.
She described herself as a DJ and a performer, who completed her Sound Engineering course in 2020 at PAS Media Academy. She has previously headlined events, performed and shared big stages with artists like Major League, Kamo Mphela, DBN Gogo, Busta929 and Uncle Waffles.
