5 Interesting Facts About De Mthuda As He Celebrates His Birthday Today.Mthuthuzeli Gift Khoza, known commonly by his stage name De Mthuda, is a South African record producer and DJ. He is best known for his singles “Shesha Geza” and “John Wick. The star is celebrating his birthday today.

  1. De Mthuda was born in Vosloorus, Johannesburg. He started producing music in 2010 when he was still in High school and eventually dropped out while he was in Grade 11 to his pursue his music career.

2. In May 2019, he released the single “Shesha Geza”. The song was certified gold by RiSA[3] and nominated for Record of the year at the 26th South African Music Awards.

3. In November 2020, he released the album Ace of Spades. The album was nominated for Amapiano album of the year at the South African Amapiano Awards

4. De Mthuda dropped out of school in grade 11. “My family allowed me some time to make music, but they ensured school was my top priority. But when I started making good songs, and money, I lost interest and dropped out in grade 11”

5. It’s been three years of churning out fierce hits for De Mthuda — from 2019 amapiano juggernaut Shesha to anthems like John Wick, uMsholozi, LiYoshona and, recently, Emlanjeni. Asked how much his life has changed since his breakthrough, he says, “In all ways, especially financially; now I can even assist at home. And I feel I’m getting the recognition I’ve always felt I deserved [as an artist].”
