“I Don’t Listen To Amapiano,” Kamo Mphela Explains Her Playlist. Kamogelo Mphela, is a South African dancer, songwriter, and singer. She became an internet celebrity after she posted a video of her dancing on her social media account. Mphela has already toured in a number of African countries including Nigeria which is a market has a taste for piano, representing Mzansi’s original sound, amapiano. She recently dropped her amapiano hit single titled Nkulunkulu, which is an absolute heater and is also the title of her second EP. The music video of the track has been viewed more than 5 million times on YouTube since it dropped in less than two months.

Kamo said that although she is a dancer and a popular Amapiano artist, she doesn’t listen to any Amapiano songs on her playlist. “I actually don’t listen to amapiano, I listen to RnB and Afrobeat most of time…I don’t even have… I have my songs cause obviously I have to listen to myself but I just don’t have an amapiano playlist on my phone the way people might think I do cause I’m a dancer, no, I don’t.

Critics then took over the comment section expressing their disappointment that they are not happy with an amapiano artist saying they do not listen to the type of music they make. One fan wrote, “An Amapiano Artist saying she doesn’t like Amapiano and then going on to promote Afrobeat which is not even a South African Genre.. hmm.. I guess being independent does have its disadvantages.. a label would have trained and prepared her for interviews.. this is a PR nightmare
