DJ Maphorisa has expressed his gratitude to Mzansi following the massive success of the Scorpion Kings Live concert at FNB Stadium, while revealing that his sights are now set on taking the show to London’s iconic O2 Arena.
The Amapiano heavyweight shared a heartfelt video on Monday, 21 September 2026, reflecting on the historic night alongside Kabza De Small. Speaking directly to fans in a casual, selfie-style video, Maphorisa acknowledged the significance of the massive turnout and thanked everyone who supported the Scorpion Kings.
“History was made. I won’t lie,” he said, appearing emotional as he reflected on the event.
The Scorpion Kings Live concert, held on Saturday, 19 September, brought more than 74,000 fans to FNB Stadium for a celebration of Amapiano, South African culture and the artists who have helped shape the genre.
Following the landmark performance, Maphorisa also turned his attention to the future of the Scorpion Kings movement. One of the ideas he raised was the need for an official name for the duo’s fanbase.
“I think Scorpion Kings fans need to have a name. We need to come up with a name so that this movement can continue,” he said.
The producer’s comments suggest that he sees Scorpion Kings as more than simply a collaboration between himself and Kabza De Small. Over the years, the duo has developed a significant following, with their music and live performances becoming an important part of Amapiano’s growth.
Maphorisa also invited fans to have a say in where the Scorpion Kings should perform next. He mentioned Cape Town and Mozambique as possible destinations, asking supporters to weigh in on which location should come next.
However, it was his international ambition that captured the most attention.
“My next stop that I would love to do it’s O2. It’s London. I know it’s not South Africa, but yeah, man,” Maphorisa said.
The O2 Arena would represent another major milestone for the Scorpion Kings if the show eventually takes place. Following their FNB Stadium achievement, Maphorisa’s comments point towards an ambition to expand the Scorpion Kings experience beyond South Africa and bring their sound to an international audience.
For now, the producer is celebrating the support received from Mzansi while encouraging fans to remain part of the movement.
After filling FNB Stadium with more than 74,000 people, the Scorpion Kings’ next chapter could take the Amapiano powerhouse from Johannesburg to London.
