Mzansi fans were left stunned after police reportedly brought the Scorpion Kings Live concert at FNB Stadium to an abrupt end, cutting the sound shortly after DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small returned to the stage during the massive Amapiano event.

The concert, which took place on Saturday, 19 September 2026, attracted more than 74,000 fans and marked another major milestone for the Scorpion Kings. However, what was expected to be a celebratory conclusion to the night quickly turned into a confusing moment that has since sparked debate across social media.

Footage circulating online shows DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small standing on stage as confetti falls around them. The duo appeared to have returned to thank the thousands of fans who had filled the stadium and supported the historic show.

According to an account shared by X user @maetsebane, the artists were expressing their gratitude when the sound was suddenly cut. The unexpected interruption left both Maphorisa and Kabza visibly confused as they appeared to look around the stage for an explanation.

A member of their team was reportedly seen approaching the artists and informing them that the police had ordered the event to be shut down immediately.

The reason behind the alleged police intervention remains unclear. No official explanation detailing why the sound was cut has been provided in the information circulating online, and neither DJ Maphorisa nor Kabza De Small has publicly addressed the incident.

The abrupt ending quickly became one of the most discussed moments from the concert, with fans sharing footage and debating what may have happened behind the scenes.

Some social media users criticised the police intervention and questioned the timing of the decision, particularly given that the artists appeared to be concluding the event by thanking their audience.

One fan commented: “I think it’s because the police didn’t benefit anything from the gig!”

Another user referenced the recent concern surrounding the murders of women in Gauteng, writing: “They failed to find the serial killer, and they decided on turning off the sound.”

Those comments reflect the frustration expressed by some fans online, although they do not establish the reason for the police action.

Despite the unexpected conclusion, Scorpion Kings Live had already delivered a major night for Amapiano, with tens of thousands of fans gathering at FNB Stadium to witness Maphorisa and Kabza De Small headline one of the genre’s biggest live events.

Until the artists or event organisers provide further clarity, questions remain about why the concert was reportedly stopped and what led to the sudden shutdown.
