Cassper Nyovest has applauded DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small following the massive success of their Scorpion Kings Live 2026 concert at FNB Stadium on Saturday, 19 September.
The Scorpion Kings delivered their biggest live show to date, attracting more than 74,000 fans to the Johannesburg stadium. The spectacular event brought together more than 70 performers and celebrated Amapiano alongside some of South Africa’s biggest sounds and artists.
Following the concert, Cassper took to X to acknowledge the significance of what DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small had achieved, highlighting the wider impact of the event on South Africa’s music industry.
“What Scorpion Kings did last night is monumental. That’s breathing life into the South African music industry as a whole. Celebrating a culture, genre and a people. The boys are blessed to have created this thing that now feeds so many families. I have nothing but respect!!!” he wrote.
Cassper’s message comes after Maphorisa previously credited the rapper for inspiring the duo’s ambitions to take Amapiano to stadium-sized audiences.
During an appearance on Tbo Touch’s Touch Down on Metro FM, Maphorisa reflected on Cassper’s history of filling major venues and acknowledged the impact his stadium concerts had on other South African artists.
Cassper’s own Fill Up journey began in 2015 when he became the first local headliner to fill the then 20,000-capacity Ticketpro Dome. He followed that achievement with a sold-out Fill Up Orlando Stadium concert in 2016 before taking the concept to FNB Stadium in 2017.
His 2017 FNB Stadium concert reportedly attracted 68,000 people, establishing another major milestone for South African artists seeking to stage large-scale headline events.
Years later, the Scorpion Kings have added another significant chapter to that stadium history. Their FNB Stadium show followed their sold-out Loftus Versfeld Stadium concert in August 2025 and represented another major step for DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.
For the Scorpion Kings, the FNB Stadium event was not only about the numbers but also about celebrating the evolution and cultural influence of Amapiano. The concert brought together established stars and emerging performers, showcasing the genre’s growing reach.
The moment also created a full-circle exchange between Cassper and Maphorisa. While Maphorisa has acknowledged the influence of Cassper’s stadium blueprint, Cassper has now publicly recognised the Scorpion Kings for achieving their own major milestone.
Their mutual recognition highlights the continuing growth of South Africa’s live music industry and the expanding ability of local artists to turn their musical movements into major stadium experiences.
