South African Amapiano star MaWhoo has ended 2024 on a high note, celebrating her victory in Ukhozi FM’s annual Ingoma Ehlukanisa Unyaka (Song of the Year) contest. Her hit track Gucci, a collaboration with Maskandi artist Mthandeni SK, triumphed over tough competition to become the soundtrack that ushered millions of South Africans into 2025.

Since its release, Gucci has been a standout hit, blending the rich, traditional sounds of Maskandi with MaWhoo’s Amapiano-inspired vocals. The song’s unique fusion resonated with listeners across the country, propelling it to the top of the charts and cementing its place as a fan favorite. The track’s ability to connect with such a broad audience made it a strong contender in this year’s contest, and it ultimately emerged victorious.

Ukhozi FM’s Song of the Year competition is one of the most anticipated events in South African music, with millions of listeners voting for their favorite tracks. This year, Gucci stood out among a lineup of incredible hits, earning the title and making its mark in the history of the prestigious contest.

Taking to her social media to celebrate the achievement, MaWhoo expressed heartfelt gratitude to her fans and the Ukhozi FM audience for their unwavering support. “Gucci.
