DJ and producer Oscar Mbo has spoken out in response to claims that he was rude to fellow musician Makhadzi during a recent live performance. The controversy arose when reports surfaced suggesting that Mbo’s DJ removed Makhadzi’s USB from the decks while she was performing, effectively cutting her set short. The incident quickly gained attention on social media, leading to backlash against Oscar Mbo and accusations of unprofessional behavior.
The situation unfolded after Makhadzi took to social media to express her frustration, explaining that her performance was abruptly interrupted. “I am sorry to perform 20 minutes. I don’t know if this is all about Oscar Mbo PR trend, but why in such crazy moments when people paid money to see us?” she wrote. According to Makhadzi, the interruption occurred just as she was about to finish her set, and she suggested that the incident might have been linked to an attempt at gaining publicity.
In response to the allegations, Oscar Mbo defended his character and addressed the situation, stating that he is not the type of person to disrespect others. “I’m a humble guy, I respect people, and there’s a lot of confusion. It’s normal how people process things. People support who they want and attend to facts later, but truth always prevails,” he remarked, maintaining that his actions were not meant to be offensive.
Oscar further elaborated on the situation in an interview with TshisaLIVE, where he clarified that it was the event organizers who were responsible for managing the show, including the time slots for each artist. He expressed his disappointment that the event organizers did not step forward to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident, which might have helped avoid the public fallout. “Yes, in all honesty, event organizers are the ones that gather us under one roof to trade. They are in charge of the shows or time slots and operations as a whole. So having their say on these things would clear up a lot of confusion on situations that happen during shows which end up getting artists fighting among themselves,” he explained.
