DJ Stokie Explains How His Stage Name Came About

DJ Stokie Explains How His Stage Name Came About. DJ Stokie real name Setoki Mbatha is a 41 year old South African disk jockey and record producer. His is known more popularly by his stage name, DJ Stokie. DJ Stokie was born and brought up in the township of Soweto where he started deejaying at a very early age.

When it comes to an Amapiano dance mix, DJ and Producer Stokie is in a league of his own.The Soweto-born is a mastermind of deep, feel-good and soulful mixes that gets the crowds moving and bopping from the moment he starts his set, until the last song. The star opened up about where and how his stage name came about.

“My family and relatives are actually the ones who named me Stokie because I used to play music for them using cassette tapes. I’d play one song and then another one, I was probably ten years old at the time. Somehow, they started saying I’m their DJ and then DJ Stokie came about. Ever since then, I’ve always gone by that name,” Stokie told Sowetan.

The Soweto-born is a mastermind of deep, feel-good and soulful mixes that gets the crowds moving and bopping from the moment he starts his set, until the last song.It’s no wonder Stokie’s weekends’ are fully booked; and his social media platforms are brimming with adoration from fans across the country.
