Top Exported Amapiano Artists On Spotify. Since 2019, Amapiano has emerged commercially as one of Africa’s hottest exports. It’s the latest South African music genre to see its artists on the global stage, with streams outside of Sub-Saharan Africa growing more than 563% on Spotify in the past two years. And with over 920M global all time streams of Amapiano to date, the genre keeps growing.

Check out these top exported Amapiano artists on Spotify:

DJ Maphorisa

DJ Maphorisa (Themba Sekowe) is an award-nominated producer and DJ who hails from the small township of Soshanguve in Pretoria.

Kabza De Small

Kabza De Small (Kabelo Motha) made headlines when he became one of the first Amapiano artists to make the FORBES AFRICA 30 Under 30 class in 2021.

Focalistic

Sebetso’s breakout song may have been Ke Star but according to the artist, from his repertoire, the extended play (EP) that defined his career was the one he did with Major League DJz called Ase Trap Tse ke Pina Tsa Ko Kasi (It’s Not Trap It’s Music From the Hood).

Young Stunna

Young Stunna appeared out of nowhere last year on the wings of Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa and went on to become one of the year’s biggest successes. He received praise for his chart-topping debut album “Notumato.” He began 2022 with “Adiwele,” the most played song on South African radio, featuring Kabza De Small. And, yes, he has appeared in a number of new entries.

Mellow & Sleazy

Mellow and Sleazy have pushed against all odds to become SA’s most coveted amapiano duos, having been raised in rough neighborhoods rife with crime, drugs and violence. Real names Phemelo Sefanyetse and Olebogeng Kwanaite, the stars are from Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa, in Tshwane, respectively.

DBN Gogo

Mandisa Radebe professionally known as DBN Gogo, is a South African DJ and music producer. Born Durban and raised in Pretoria, she garnered local attention following release of her debut single “Khuza Gogo”, which was certified platinum in South Africa.

Costa Titch

Born in 1995, Costa Tsobanoglou, popularly known by his stage name Costa Titch is a super-talented rapper and songwriter in South Africa. He is known for his hit songs like Nkalakatha and Activate. The rapper, who was a dancer before, has created a style for himself that everybody can reckon with and has been dropping songs consistently since his debut. His songs are well publicized and have gotten him various recognition.

Major League Djz

At the tender age of five, twins Bandile and Banele Mbere (above), who were born in Boston in the United States, moved to South Africa. When they were 16, they threw the ‘Robot Party’ which ended up changing their lives. Professionally, the duo started off as promoters, having hosted some of the country’s biggest parties.

Kamo Mphela

Kamo is a breakout amapiano dancer and musician who jumped into the scene after blowing up via a viral video clip on social media. Hosting an amapiano dance masterclass to her latest single “Hannah Montana,” the 23-year-old brought members of the Sowetan community together — a true reflection of the welcoming and diverse nature of amapiano.

Daliwonga

Amapiano vocalist and songwriter Daliwonga Matiwane has mastered consistency.Since his rise to stardom in 2019, the Soweto-born heartthrob has dropped hit after hit and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
