DJ Ntwana Yami Yebhozza Opens Up About Being An Upcoming Female Artist And Being Undermined. DJ Ntwana Yami Yebhozza has been touring and attending events in numerous places across the province and countrywide, and she is close to breaking into the mainstream entertainment industry. Born Khethabanhle Nkosi, this DJ is taking the entertainment industry by storm and is quickly making a name for herself.

She is joining the movement of displacing the misconception that deejaying is exclusively for men and proving the majority of people wrong. And with the festive holidays knocking, Ntwana Yami Yebhozza hopes to make party and music lovers dance to her amapiano sets. “I simply fell in love with amapiano music, which inspired me to become a DJ. I started by taking classes and seeking advice from local club DJs. I persuaded myself that I had something to prove and that I could win this challenge after hearing criticism from many people, mostly men,” Nkosi said.

It had not been an easy journey, but with the support of her management team and fans, she stood tall. “In the beginning, everything was challenging. I had trouble getting gigs, and if I did, the event organisers would not pay me. They also kept harping on the importance of recognition and developing a brand. There have been times when I have considered giving up, but I have since remembered why I started. This industry is difficult, particularly if you are a woman and young. People may try to take advantage of you.”

She has established quite a reputation with social event organisers and a brand for herself, despite being in the industry for only a short while. Nkosi will be in the line-up for the hottest colour festival in Mbombela and she is considering producing her own music. “My management team and I have been discussing that for a long time now. Early next year I will probably produce my own songs and play my own music.”
