Lady Du Lambasts u’Mlando Hit Maker For Not Mentioning Fellow Features After Winning Award. The full list of winners for the 2022 edition of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) were announced at the Sun City Superbowl in Rustenburg on 28 August. The first batch of winners were announced at the same venue on 27 August. The second day of the awards ceremony, which was hosted by Nandi Madida, Lawrence Maleka, Mpho Popps, Robot Boii and Alphi Sipho Mkhwanazi, featured performances from Stogie T, A Reece and Tshego, with an emotive tribute to the late Riky Rick. Other performers include Makhadzi, Takie Ndou, Shekinah, Musa Keys, Konke, Da Capo and Lloyiso.

While there were so many wins on the night, it seems there is some drama brewing. From artists claiming to be snubbed to artists out shining others. u’Mlando was awarded most viral Tik Tok song of the year. While the producer of tjr track, 9umba was receiving the award, he gave his speech however it seema Lady Du did not find the speech convincing. Taking to social media, Lady Du seemingly lambasted the fact that Nobantu Vilakazi and Sir Trill were not mentioned in the speech, and felt they deserved it. “Nobantu and sir trill were not even mentioned in a speech they were supposed to be mentioned on!!! Sipinde siya thula futhi!!!Mina ngeke!!! Yet they made that song!!!” Check it out:

Former soccer player turned musician, Pholoso Masombuka (22) got into music in 2014. He started off as a rapper. He says growing up he liked kwaito and got into dancing and became known for dancing pantsula in Tsakane, East of Joburg. When he moved to the Vaal because he was a naughty kid, he then met musicians who introduced him to hip-hop music.“When I first went to the studio I knew that when I finish my matric I want to focus on making music. I told my dad, and he didn’t have a problem so I made sure that I did well at school so I can focus on something that I love.”

While people were fresh from celebrating the New Year, he posted a video of himself dancing to a catchy hook that got the whole on Mzansi rocking to it. It was his way of telling people that it was okay to celebrate themselves and their achievements. The song continues to make marks both on dance floors and online music streaming platforms.
