South African music fans who missed the historic Scorpion Kings Live experience at FNB Stadium will soon have another opportunity to relive the spectacular event, as SABC1 prepares to broadcast the concert on television for the first time.
As the event’s Official Broadcast Partner, SABC1 will bring Scorpion Kings Live to audiences across the country on Saturday, 3 October 2026, at 20:00 on SABC1 and SABC Plus, marking a major milestone for South African music television.
Staged at the iconic FNB Stadium on 19 September 2026, Scorpion Kings Live brought together some of South Africa’s most influential musical heavyweights for a celebration of the sounds, talent and cultural movements shaping Mzansi’s music landscape and making waves internationally.
At the centre of the spectacular experience were the legendary Scorpion Kings, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, whose contribution to the evolution and global reach of Amapiano has helped define a new era in South African music.
They were joined by an impressive lineup representing the diversity and vibrancy of the country’s contemporary music scene. From the soulful sounds of Ami Faku, Msaki, Nobuhle, Nokwazi, Nkosazana Daughter and Mlindo The Vocalist to the infectious Amapiano energy of Daliwonga, Young Stunna, Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, Toss, Tman Xpress and LeeMckrazy, the concert delivered a musical journey that connected different generations of fans.
The partnership between SABC1 and Scorpion Kings Live brings together two brands deeply rooted in South African music, youth culture and entertainment. By taking the concert to television for the first time, SABC1 is opening the cultural experience to millions of viewers beyond the stadium while creating a new broadcast milestone for South African music.
Dichaba Phalatse, SABC Video Entertainment Marketing Manager, highlighted the importance of the partnership, saying: “Scorpion Kings Live is more than a concert; it is a defining South African cultural moment. SABC1 is proud to pioneer the event’s first-ever television broadcast and bring the energy of FNB Stadium to audiences across the country. This is what it means to be The Source of Mzansi: connecting viewers to the artists, sounds and moments shaping our culture, and ensuring that important cultural experiences are shared with the nation.”
The Scorpion Kings also shared their excitement about bringing the event to a much wider audience.
“Scorpion Kings Live was too special to be experienced for one night only. We will carry the historic moment from FNB Stadium with us for a long time. Now, for the first time, people across South Africa can relive that experience from wherever they are.
“We’re excited to bring the music, the performances and the energy of Scorpion Kings Live to SABC 1 and SABC Plus on 3 October for millions to watch.”
The upcoming broadcast will give viewers the chance to experience the performances, atmosphere and energy of Scorpion Kings Live from the comfort of their homes, extending the reach of the landmark concert beyond FNB Stadium and into living rooms across South Africa.
