Nasty C continues to establish himself as one of South Africa’s most respected Hip Hop artists, but the rapper has made it clear that he is not closing the door on exploring other genres. In a recent conversation with Hip Hop SA, Nasty C opened up about the possibility of making Amapiano and revealed that fans could potentially hear him experimenting with the genre in the future.
The “Strings and Bling” hitmaker was asked whether he would consider venturing into Amapiano, a genre that has grown from a South African movement into a global sound. Rather than ruling out the possibility, Nasty C admitted that he remains open to whatever happens naturally in the studio.
“I did a collab tape with Leka, it was fun to do. I don’t wanna say no and you end up seeing me again and I love being in the studio,” Nasty C explained.
For the rapper, music is ultimately about creativity and enjoying the process. While Hip Hop remains a major part of his identity, he does not want to limit himself by refusing to experiment with sounds outside his usual space.
Nasty C also revealed that there are several Amapiano artists he admires and has relationships with away from the music. Among the producers he specifically mentioned was Kabza De Small, one of the most influential names in the Amapiano movement.
“There’s a lot of Amapiano artists that I’m a fan of and cool with in real life that I love being in the studio with, like Kabza for instance; he’s incredibly talented,” he said.
His admiration for Kabza De Small has even opened the possibility of a future collaboration. Nasty C suggested that if the two artists eventually find themselves together in the studio, the result may not necessarily be a Hip Hop record.
“You never know I might be in studio with him, it might not be a Hip Hop song, it might be an Amapiano song, I don’t know,” he added.
The comments have sparked excitement among fans who would undoubtedly welcome a collaboration between one of South Africa’s biggest Hip Hop exports and one of Amapiano’s most celebrated producers.
Nasty C’s willingness to experiment also demonstrates his understanding of how music continues to evolve. Instead of restricting himself to one genre, the rapper appears interested in following his creativity wherever it leads.
Whether an official Nasty C Amapiano record eventually materialises remains uncertain, but one thing is clear: he is not afraid to step outside his comfort zone. For an artist who continues to evolve, an Amapiano chapter could be another exciting addition to his already impressive musical journey.
