Amapiano star Lady Du is preparing to bring more than just music to the stage when she performs at Scorpion Kings Live at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, 19 September.
The singer is among more than 50 artists set to take the stage at the highly anticipated event, which will bring together some of South Africa’s biggest names across amapiano, Afro soul, hip hop and other genres.
For Lady Du, the performance will be an opportunity to connect with audiences on a deeper level. She has promised a set filled with emotion, spirituality, culture and storytelling, giving fans a glimpse into a more reflective side of her artistry.
“People can expect an amazing, powerful, and unforgettable performance. For me, this event is about much more than entertainment,” she said.
“It is about bringing South African artists together and telling the beautiful story of who we are as a people through our music, our culture and our experiences.”
The “Dakiwe” hitmaker said she wants her performance to create an emotional connection between herself and the audience, rather than simply being another live music set.
“My performance is going to be very spiritual, emotional and touching,” she said.
“I want people to feel something when I step on that stage to connect with the music, to remember where we come from, and to celebrate the journey that has brought us to where we are today.”
Lady Du’s approach reflects the broader cultural significance she associates with the event. Her set will explore themes of identity, spirituality, struggle, triumph and celebration while paying homage to the experiences that have shaped South African music.
“I want to take the audience on a journey through South African culture, our struggles, our victories, our spirituality and our celebration of life,” she said.
“It will be a performance from the heart, and I’m really excited for people to experience it.”
Lady Du will join an extensive lineup featuring Ami Faku, Msaki, Nobuhle, Nokwazi, Nkosazana Daughter and Mlindo The Vocalist.
The amapiano contingent includes Daliwonga, Young Stunna, Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, Toss, Tman Xpress, LeeMckrazy and MaWhoo, while hip-hop stars Blxckie and Nasty C will also perform alongside veteran musician Ringo Madlingozi.
With such a diverse lineup taking over FNB Stadium, Lady Du is set to use her moment on the massive stage to celebrate South African culture while delivering a performance designed to leave fans feeling connected, inspired and emotionally moved.
