A bold new collaboration is on the horizon as Maeywon and Murumba Pitch officially announce their upcoming joint EP, OLEANDER. Alongside the announcement, the duo has released the project’s first single, “Trouble In Paradise,” giving listeners a powerful introduction to what promises to be an emotionally rich body of work.

Inspired by the symbolic nature of the oleander flower — admired for its striking beauty yet known for its underlying toxicity — the EP delves into the emotional contrasts that define modern relationships. Love, passion, heartbreak, and disillusionment intertwine throughout the concept, reflecting the complexities many experience in romance today. With OLEANDER, Maeywon and Murumba Pitch aim to explore how something so beautiful can simultaneously carry hidden pain.

Leading the rollout is “Trouble In Paradise,” released today as the first glimpse into the EP’s sonic and emotional landscape. The single captures the tension between desire and disappointment, pairing heartfelt lyricism with textured, progressive Afrobeats production. Smooth melodies float over rhythmic percussion, while evocative storytelling anchors the track in emotional truth. It’s a layered, immersive offering that sets the tone for what listeners can expect from the full project.

Maeywon continues to establish himself as one of the most promising emerging voices in South Africa’s new wave of Afrobeats-inspired artists. Known for blending emotive lyricism with contemporary African production, he has built a reputation for translating personal experiences into relatable narratives. His vulnerability and sincerity shine through in “Trouble In Paradise,” adding depth to the collaboration.

Murumba Pitch, celebrated for their soulful approach to African rhythm and melody, bring their signature sonic sophistication to the project. The duo has consistently crafted music that resonates on both emotional and musical levels, earning recognition for dynamic collaborations and genre-blending innovation. Their ability to fuse traditional influences with modern sounds provides the perfect backdrop for Maeywon’s expressive songwriting.

Together, Maeywon and Murumba Pitch create a seamless balance between vulnerability and refined production. OLEANDER promises to push the boundaries of African music while staying grounded in authenticity and lived experience. The synergy between the artists is evident — a meeting point where storytelling meets expansive soundscapes.

As anticipation builds for the full EP, “Trouble In Paradise” stands as a compelling introduction. It signals a project unafraid to explore love’s dualities — beauty and toxicity intertwined. For now, the journey begins here, with a single that invites listeners into the delicate yet dangerous world of OLEANDER.
